2024/03/26

The Faculty of Commerce and Management will offer a new course in English, Current Issues in Accounting and Finance A/B, in the spring semester of 2024. In this course, students will learn the basics of accounting and finance and discuss current issues in English. While communication in English is essential in today's global business world, this is not a language course, but a program in which students study subjects related to real business in English. The aim is to acquire the technical terms and established theories of accounting and finance, and at the same time to enable Japanese and international students who are not native English speakers to discuss these topics confidently in English.

In the course, students will delve into the complexities of accounting within today's intricate business landscape. This involves acknowledging the pivotal role accounting holds in the interconnectedness between businesses, the environment, and society, fostering a sense of community awareness. By exploring topics like regulation and standardization, sustainability and its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, and the effective functioning of financial markets, students will be equipped to step into leadership roles in the future. Furthermore, they will refine their communication abilities to articulate well-structured and independent analyses, applying established theories to address these contemporary accounting challenges.
